Street Fishing - Jordan

We met Jordan Tuesday night.  He walked into the Yum-yum's restaurant and I noticed him because his shirt had Hebrew writing on it.  The logo was that of a bottle of Budweiser and on the back it said the Hebrews call it King of Beers, or something like that.  Much to our surprise, he sat down right next to us to eat his meal.

I was excited that he did, because this was another opportunity that the Lord had given us to witness.  I decided that the best way to secure an encounter with him was to say something to him before he even sat down.  I mentioned something about his shirt.  That was a good place to start, I thought.  I told him that I noticed the Hebrew writings on his shirt and wondered what it said.

He said, "I'm sure it says King of Beers in Hebrew" and I nodded, and replied that it was ironic because we were just talking about the King of the Jews, Jesus.  This lead us into a mostly civil conversation.

It is wonderful how God works, because the first thing Jordan chose to say was vulgar and blasphemed Jesus.  This immediately prompted me to talk about his sin.  There's no better segway into a discussion over sin, than to be able to confront obvious sin that just occurred.  We explained the Law and judgment of sin, and we presented Jesus rightly as the Savior.  Jordan was given the clear gospel message and left with a choice.  He has to choose to repent and put his trust in the Savior, or reject Jesus and be separated forever from God, in Hell.

I thank God for a chance to give the clear gospel message to someone who really needs it, because without the truth, Jordan may never have considered Jesus as the Savior or even acknowledged that he needed a savior.  We don't have a way to follow up with Jordan, so we just have to pray that the Holy Spirit will convict him of his sin and point him to Jesus. Praise the Lord for this opportunity to share the Good News!
