Street Fishing - Thack (Update)

Our God is amazing! Thack has been attending church with us for a couple of weeks. Over the course of this time, he's been actively looking for work and opening his heart to the Lord. Last Thursday, Thack accepted an invitation to the altar at the end of the evening service at Calvary Chapel. When he got down there and on his knees, he was greeted by Jesus Himself. Praise the Lord, realizing his sin, Thack said the prayer of salvation. We look forward to seeing the changed life in him.

I'd like to thank all my readers for all the prayers.

Busy

B art deco U on road S Y

Do you ever think that eventually, when we get so busy doing the right things for God, that we will actually become less busy? I think that being busy is relative to your relationship with the Lord. What, really, constitutes busy?

Look at it like this: we only feel too busy to do the things that are fun in our lives when the not so fun stuff interferes. As followers of Jesus, I think that we will grow to a point that our ministry, work, and play will all be equal on the fun factor because our desire to serve God will be as great or greater than our desire to play. If our serving is what currently makes our lives seem busy, then as we grow and desire to serve God more out of love, then the things we used to see as fun (ie. Sunday afternoon football) become less important and actually can hinder your real desire to serve.

When our desire to serve and work hard for the Lord increases, we won't see work and serving as busy work. Instead we'll find that the priority of those fun things of this world (selfishness) will move lower on the list. Our day will be still just as full as always, but won't seem busy because of our joy in working for God.

(the Lord) will render to every man according to his deeds...to those who are selfishly ambitious...wrath and indignation. Romans 2:6,8

Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus... Colossians 3:17

Moving Indoors

We've made a move that's really exciting and disappointing and the same time.

I'll start with the disappointing: Our Tuesday night outing to purposely encounter the lost has been sort of put on hold. Don't worry though, we definitely do plan to continue with the street fishing, but we just may need to be a little more creative in finding a good time to do it.

Now the exciting: We've started a men's bible study in my home on Tuesday evenings. The group is small, but the discipleship is excellent. My brother and I have felt called to focus on discipleship a little more and as a result we can pull in some other men that are either away from fellowship or possible have not ever really experienced fellowship. It's also a great opportunity to build each other up in faith.

We've also been given this opportunity to build on our ability to teach others. I don't know about the others in the group, but I feel like I might be called to teach. It's a scary thought, so small steps are probably the best thing for me right now.

Please be praying for more men to attend, for the teaching to be solid and God driven, and for the street fishing to continue. Praise the Lord, always!
