Street Fishing - Jordan

We met Jordan Tuesday night.  He walked into the Yum-yum's restaurant and I noticed him because his shirt had Hebrew writing on it.  The logo was that of a bottle of Budweiser and on the back it said the Hebrews call it King of Beers, or something like that.  Much to our surprise, he sat down right next to us to eat his meal.

I was excited that he did, because this was another opportunity that the Lord had given us to witness.  I decided that the best way to secure an encounter with him was to say something to him before he even sat down.  I mentioned something about his shirt.  That was a good place to start, I thought.  I told him that I noticed the Hebrew writings on his shirt and wondered what it said.

He said, "I'm sure it says King of Beers in Hebrew" and I nodded, and replied that it was ironic because we were just talking about the King of the Jews, Jesus.  This lead us into a mostly civil conversation.

It is wonderful how God works, because the first thing Jordan chose to say was vulgar and blasphemed Jesus.  This immediately prompted me to talk about his sin.  There's no better segway into a discussion over sin, than to be able to confront obvious sin that just occurred.  We explained the Law and judgment of sin, and we presented Jesus rightly as the Savior.  Jordan was given the clear gospel message and left with a choice.  He has to choose to repent and put his trust in the Savior, or reject Jesus and be separated forever from God, in Hell.

I thank God for a chance to give the clear gospel message to someone who really needs it, because without the truth, Jordan may never have considered Jesus as the Savior or even acknowledged that he needed a savior.  We don't have a way to follow up with Jordan, so we just have to pray that the Holy Spirit will convict him of his sin and point him to Jesus. Praise the Lord for this opportunity to share the Good News!

Street Fishing - Ricky

Tuesday, we went to Yum-Yum's in Greensboro to do some street fishing.  We basically posted up in one of the outside dining tables and opened our bibles.  Ricky saw us out there and walked past 3 or 4 times before deciding to stop.  He asked what we were reading and stopped to talk with us for a few minutes.

We asked if he knew for sure where he would go when he died and he couldn't really answer that question because he was too concerned about a long time sin that had been in his life.  He's been to church and claims a salvation moment 3 years ago, but doesn't feel convinced due to this continuing sin.

We shared the gospel with him and asked if we could pray for him.  He agreed and came and sat with us while we prayed, right there at the steps of the Yum-yum's restaurant.  We left him with an invite card to our church and encouraged him to start attending a bible teaching church.  He was very interested in church, and he left knowing that he had a decision to make about Jesus.

Please pray for Ricky.  He's got the gospel, now, and a choice to make that will change his eternity.

--This was the first street witnessing encounter for my brother and me, and we were definitely blessed and encouraged by it.  We couldn't wait to start talking with more people about Jesus.  More to come regarding this night when time allows, so stay tuned...

Soccer Player

Foot

I've heard ladies mention how it feels like a baby is kicking in there, but here's what is really going on in there. God is an incredible creator and He already has a plan for this baby. Amazing.

Car Repair Blessing

My hoopty van threw a belt the other day and I discovered that a major bracket holding the power steering pulley to the motor had destroyed a few of the mounting bolts. This is not a good thing and needed to be fixed right away before more damage occurred. I took it to the nearest mechanic because I didn't have my tools with me and they quoted me $800 because of the major removal of nearby parts to access the trouble. I quickly removed the van from their shop and limped it home.

It sat here for a few days while I worked up my courage to tackle the repair myself. I did some looking at the repair and I thought it could be fixed without major trouble if only this one "shortcut" was taken care of. I prayed about this little "shortcut" before I decided to get dirty and proceed with repairs. I asked God to simply loosen this one troublesome bolt and with it out of the way, I could complete the repairs without taking absolutely everything apart.

"PRAISE THE LORD" this bolt was completely loose when I went to remove it. I know that with a vehicle that is nearly as old as I am, or at least 20 years old, there are very few bolts that just come out like butter and this was one of them. I thank God for the loose bolt and I know that His hand of mercy was all over this repair.

I fixed the van in about 5 minutes. It took more time to clean the grime off my hands then it took to fix the thing. That shoots that 10 hour estimate the mechanic gave me completely out of the water. God is the perfect mechanic and certainly answers prayers and performs miracles still today!

Praise the Lord! Thank you God for answering all my prayers.

Street Evangalism

Not Me Preaching

It scares me to death to think about a possible calling to do street evangalism. The funny thing is, this subject comes up more than anything else these days. I know that we all are called to spread the gospel and street preaching is one way to do that, but why do I continue to fear man and let that get in the way of God's work.

I was talking about this with my brother earlier tonight and we really desire to be obedient in this calling, but we are too chicken to do anything about it. What do you have to do to drop your pride and do what is right? We rationalize our delay by saying that we aren't geared right for this calling, but if we never give it a try then we won't be letting God get the glory. Pray for boldness and obedience that I might fully acknowledge God's desire to spread the gospel to the world through me.

Meanwhile, there are some awesome resources for further information about street evangalism if you want to get into this as well. Here are a few links:

Crown Ministries

We're getting pretty close to the end of another Crown Ministries small group class.  This group of people we've been fellowshipping with for quite a while are a wonderful group of believers.  We've really enjoyed our time learning God's principles of how to manage money.

During this time, we've seen some really amazing work from God's hands.  There were houses sold, broken marriages restored, plenty of debts paid off and all sorts of wonderful blessings from God.

I know that there is not really anything too deep to take from today's post, except that God provides and is still working miracles.  I want to encourage you to join a small group class of any sort to worship in an intimate setting with other believers.  The small group setting is where God really causes people to grow so if you are not in a small group, then you are really missing out on some wonderful blessings.
